Mammoth Cave Family Vacation

The girlies with their beloved Daddy

Last week our family stayed here at the Barren River State Resort Lodge in Kentucky. It was a great place for our family...only 2 hours from Clarksville, pool outside our room, lots of hiking, bike trails, playgrounds, lake, and Mammoth Cave just 45 minutes away. We stayed a total of 4 nights and the moons joined us in the lodge the last two nights so the girls had their best friends around too. Was a perfect last vacation until this baby comes!

Jack 7 Months

About 5 days a week Jack and Riley are out of the house by 5am for field training and quail hunting (minus the shooting). Here are some recent pics that Riley took early morning.

New Projects

I've been nesting again! When I got home from our Ohio trip the girls new bedding was waiting for me! I immediately tore open the boxes and began decorating their beds (yes, even before unpacking the car). I LOVE this bedding! Yes, it was a huge splurge (that my lovely husband agreed to) but we haven't regretted the purchase.

After seeing the new quilts and how fabulous they look on the bunk beds I went to work on a book sling project that was super-easy & inexpensive. I found this off of one of my new favorite blogs, Silly Eagle Books,

I bought the fabric from Blooming Stitches, which is less than a mile from my house! I can't say enough about this terrific shop. The owner has worked with me sketching ideas and teaching me tricks of the trade.

We also hung a $10 ceiling light at the top of Ellie's bunk so she can have a cozy get-away reading place to call her own. I still have a few more additions to make to the girls' room, but it's almost finished!

Grandpa Bear

I'm still working on sorting through our Lake Erie photos, but here are two of my favorites. I don't have many great pictures of my dad with the girls, and I love these because it shows my dad's goofy side. It's probably because he's getting ready to take us on a boat ride, which is one of his favorite things to do. brag on him a little bit, he won our families Biggest Loser competition and lost over 40 lbs!!! Way to go Dad!

*Oh, and they're all growling in the picture, hence his nickname, Grandpa Bear
