Heroes At Home Retreat

The kids and I just returned from a fantastic weekend get-away to Nashville. I got to attend a Heroes at Home Retreat put on by Riley's unit. The kids and I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn, which is in the fabulous Vanderbilt area. We had all of our meals paid for, awesome childcare while I attended seminars, and they even gave us 2 adjoining rooms so I got a king-size bed all to myself while the girls were thrilled about having their own room (although I propped the door open leading to mine). I drug the poor kids around so I could hit up some of my favorite shops- Express, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Anthropologie, & Luluemon. I even brought my cooler so I could hit up Harris Teeter because it was a double coupons day. And it was so worth it because I spent $2.97 and saved $45.08 (for 1 Chi Chi's salsa, 1 Kens Lite Ranch dressing, 3 boxes Better Oats, Edward's Key Lime Pie, Edward's Fudge Brownie, 2 pkgs Nestle refridge cookie dough, 2 pks Kraft singles cheese, 2 4 packs Activia yogurt, & 2 4pks of Yo Plus yogurt) plus the girls got free cookies & balloons. Basically, everything was free except 2 of the boxes of oats. We went to the famous Gigi's Cupcakery and shared a fabulous Apple Pie cupcake. The girls loved swimming in the pool, playing with their friends (Caleb and Joshua were next door to us) during childcare times, and watching the moon out their huge bedroom window at night. It was quality stree-free bonding for the girls and I, and it was wonderful having adult discussions with my friends and other women who share similar lifestyles. I truly felt like I was being served all weekend and it brings tears to my eyes to feel so valued, understood, & appreciated!
